Johnny is a rogue, born and bread on the high seas. He wields a cutlass and a cat of nine tails with handle full of precious stones. Johnny carries a pair of glasses around with him at all times, although he doesn’t always wear them (when he really should). His poor sight can be a disadvantage in a fight, but his quick instinct and experience generally make up for it.
It was clear from a young age that Johnny was going to carry on the family tradition of piracy; he had a love for adventure…and rum…and women. He’s by no stretch of the imagination a womanizer, because he in fact respects women more than most men of his time. He’s a true romantic and possibly (dare I say?) the greatest lover in the Caribbean. The legendary Black Pearl was his fathers ship, handed down to him when his parents were both claimed by the sea when Johnny was just 13. His father’s first mate assisted him in captaining the ship until he was of age and skill to do so himself. Luck would have it, on one of his first expeditions as a captain, they were lead into the jungles of the Amazon searching for treasure. Johnny felt a small sting in his left leg, and before he could realize what was happening his leg had been amputated. He’d been bitten by a small poisonous insect, one that might have killed him if the leg hadn’t been removed. But Johnny gets along just fine with his peg, in fact he uses it to his advantage because so many people underestimate him because of it. There was one such person that got his ass whooped by Johnny one fateful day in the port of Liverpool, a man by the name of James Paul. That’s another story however, as well as the stories of how he met George and Richie. Johnny still carries a scar across the left side of his face from his first meeting with Richie in Tortuga.
